Canadian Country-Rock Family Band

The Argues are a Canadian indie country-rock family band currently based in Springwater, Ontario. Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist sisters Sabrina, 20, and Lauren, 22, front the band. Along with their band-mate parents, drummer Chantale and guitarist Michael, their original country-rock music and rock/blues covers can be heard at countless festivals, events and venues.

The Argues have shared the stage with Andrew Hyatt, River Town Saints, Jack de Keyzer and other great Canadian artists.

The band released their singles “I Don’t Need You” and “Enjoy This Night” to Canadian Country Radio in Summer 2018 and Summer 2019, respectively, with national airplay and a successful radio tour.

“Enjoy This Night” was featured on Spotify’s New Music Nashville playlist.

The Argues won Best Country at the 2017 Toronto Independent Music Awards and placed in the Top Ten in CBC’s 2017 Searchlight competition for Central Ontario.

Meet the Band
Sabrina Argue

Vocals, Keys, Guitar, Bass

Though the youngest in the band,  Sabrina takes the forefront of the stage with her powerful vocals and multi-instrumental ability. Sabrina played her first professional gig at 9 years old and has a love of performing. Her favourite artists range from the Bee Gees to the Everly Brothers and John Denver, among many others. She likes vinyl records, art, classic movies, along with reading, fishing, and exploring the outdoors.

Lauren Argue

Vocals, Bass, Guitar

Lauren is the bass player and vocalist for The Argues. At five, Lauren started singing songs to her dad’s guitar playing. Soon after, she began taking vocal lessons and then picked up the bass. Much to her sister’s disdain, Lauren enjoys singing opera in her free time. Her favourite bass player has long been Donald “Duck” Dunn, but she gains influences from a wide range of bands and musicians including Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Glen Campbell, Bee Gees, and Van Morrison. She loves fishing, reading, and watching classic movies.

Chantale Argue

Drums

Chantale plays drums for The Argues. She also books gigs and is the band’s #1 bottle-washer. Chantale loves being part of a female rhythm section with her daughter and fave bass player: Lauren Argue! Favorite drummers include Jim Keltner (legendary session musician), Artimus Pyle (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Levon Helm (The Band), Charlie Watts (Rolling Stones) and Gary Craig (another legendary session musician). Chantale’s songwriting is inspired by her faith, her love of people and the joys & hardships we all face in this journey of life.

Michael Argue

Guitar

Michael plays guitar, carries the equipment, drives the bus, and is officially known by his band-mates as the #1 roadie. Writes the odd song and gets to sing a song once in a while, if the band lets him!
